Created in 1994 to highlight Britain’s long history in cheese making, and the fact that British cheese manufacturers now produce more than 700 cheeses, British Cheese Week this year will be held between the 25th of September and the 3rd of October.
Cheese has been manufactured in the UK for thousands of years. But while our manufacturing techniques were refined by the Romans in the 11th century, it is a fact that British cheese manufacturers now produce more mozzarella than Italy.
The focal point of British Cheese Week is the Great British Cheese Festival held in Cardiff Castle, which this year will be held between the 25th and 26th of September.
Look out for posters celebrating British Cheese Week and special offers and promotions for British Cheese in your local supermarket.
