Established in January 2010 in response to our Government’s simply appalling treatment of savers, ‘Save Our Savers’ independent action group is determined to fight back for fairer treatment, political recognition and policy support for British savers.
Unveiled at a Westminster debate on the role of saving in Britain’s economic future, Save Our Savers aims to galvanise the 27 million British adults into a major grassroots force for change.
An independent report published by Save Our Savers reveals that 72% of British adults believe those who save for their future are not supported or given a fair deal, while only 9%, (just under one in ten) believe savers receive fair treatment. The Government and policymakers bear the brunt of public blame for this situation, but respondents also made clear that financial product providers should do much more to support savers.
Revd John Strain, spokesperson for Save Our Savers and one of the action group’s founders, commented: “Saving for the future, prudently and wisely, is a crucial component of the common good. Savers have been far off the political radar for decades now, but the disregard for the plight of savers has shattered public trust in the policymakers. Anyone would think the Government doesn’t want people to provide for themselves, doesn’t need enterprise built upon the nation’s savings, and would rather we all borrowed and spent our way into old age dependency.”
So, join Save Our Savers, lend your support and give them your views on how the Government should support savers. By joining this campaign, you’re increasing Save Our Savers‘ power to influence politicians, financial institutions and others who can give savers a fairer deal.
