I wonder what ' absemnce' is?
Who else could invent a new word than Our dear Ciderman.
I see that I shall have to be busy for the next few weeks.
How long are you going Absemnce Michael and will you then ask me to keep your seat warm.
It willthen be nearing Christmas and I think then I shall be a while Absemnce
.Which means I shall be resting behind the floorboards.
Oh Glory Hallelujah..

We depart on 20th November back about 12 days later. I know I will be able to rely on you to keep MY seat warm. Goodthing Me and I are not away together as your bottom would not be big enough to warm two seats!

Michael I don't think this is the place to discuss my bottom
but … I must add it has seen better days.
Could we call this holiday a Scorpion holiday.?
I am lucky as I have an extra hour to night. It is the beginning of that winter thingy.
Can't make up my mind if I should sleep it, or open one of tiny bottles of wine and have
a nibble of Cheddar cheese.
Spoilt for choice.

I wonder who the 9 guests were. It was not me. I was in the warm. It would be lovely to hear from the people who look in and don't say anything. Some of the 9 have to be Members because the number of guests under membership at the bottom has not gone up. It's still 5.

I understand that search engines show on most boards as “guests”.

At all parties I always have either a Chaperon or a Pepper-spray
Michael do you really think those 9 were search engines.
Now what would they be searching for on Third-age.
Hallelujah.

No tripe today, it is the first day of November and in 61 days each day will be (for me) getting 1 minute longer.
Now that is a happy thought,
I am not going to wish the days away but shall every day do something worth while.
That is living in the future. Passed is past and gone is gone.
Gee Whizz.

Something much worse than Tripe— these E's that they put in my food
E620 is Glutamic acid.
I always thought bread was made only from Flour, Water and Yeast.
Apparently not.
They use these E-things at the bakery to alter the taste and to preserve the bread.
I am going to make my own bread.
I haven't got a bread machine but I have a Mixer and can bake it in my oven.
The E is for Enzyme which we have in our bodies and helps to digest what we eat.
Now laboratories are manufacturing these E and putting them in all convenient foods.
Like Jamie Oliver said ” too many people (women) are too lazy to peel a potato.

When we were 'hunter/gatherers' about 50,000 years ago, our food was sourced from up to 180 types, including meat and vegetables and fruit. As we became farmers our food was limited to about 8 edibles. The life expectancy dropped from about 50 years to 39, ( women to 29!) . Now we are no longer gatherers or farmers our food must come from far away and we demand cost reductions. This results in the use of preservatives and stabilisers to allow the transport of processed goods long distances.
All is not lost , however! We now chill & freeze where very little nutrient is lost and canning, where only some nutrients are lost.
Beware of technical names! Lest we deprive ourselves of an essential nutrient such as salt- made up of a reactive metal and a poisonous green gas. and as for di-hydrogen oxide……………!

Good morning everybody, the sun is shining for me today,
a lovely November morning.
I think I must be the only Third-ager in the WWW- world.
All the others are either still working hard to keep their jobs or gadding about in Brisbane, or somewhere.
Third age does not begin with FIFTY.
It begins when you start living off a pension and that pension appears every month on your bank account.
Those are my thoughts for Today.

Yes, I rather like that system where money turns up in my bank unannounced. Still I've contributed for 45 years so it's only right and proper. They actually gave me a rise on 1st of October!

I make my own oven chips. Peel (if you like the skins just scrub) and slice the potatoes into chips. (I make my roast potatoes the same way). Put them into boiling water and boil for about 5-10 minutes. Preheat the oven to 200C. Drain chips/potatoes and leave for a minute till dry. Get a baking tray and add about 2 table spoons of nut oil. Add course black pepper and chilli flakes to your taste (chilli flakes optional). When doing roast potatoes, I also add mixed herbs. Add the chips/potatoes and some sea salt and toss. Put in the oven for about 45 minutes or until brown. I toss them 2-3 times while they cook. Try them, they taste lovely. They don't have too many calories, and nut oil is good for you.

No tripe this morning.
I have had a lovely, happy, busy weekend and I am exhausted.
It is Monday and my door is locked and I have fixed the bell that it doesn't ring.
But my telephone rang…
