It is really sad about your old forum friends. Hazel, Gina, Mags, Lucy and Hammer. I think they are all still members of the forum but I suppose it's hard when you have someone looking over your shoulder. All I can say is it's a shame for you three.

It is very sad news about the miners.

I hope Ciderman is having fun on his holiday.Laugh

They are working very hard to retrieve the miner's bodies.

I believe this forum to be built on very solid ground and the number of regular guests tend to support my thoughts. We possibly have one problem and it never really occurred to me until this week just gone by, and that is the serious side of the forum is somewhat light on support.

I must admit I tend to look at the posts on the 'bistro type' thread and have never really wandered into the proper 'Third Age' topics. Last week I had an hour or two to spare so I read through a few of the real threads and found them not only interesting but subjects to which I could add a little.

There must be a reason why we are getting guests, there are two watching as I type. Hopefully with more posts supporting the site plus of course the usual very friendly banter, it may encourage our guests to join in. Perhaps holding written conversations with a mouse and an onion may not be to every-one's taste, but we have been known to encourage a few smiles over the months.

A mouse and an onion—- Neither of which I would like in my bed.Cool

Yesterday was the first Sunday in Advent which means Christmas is near.

I thought of that little rhyme which I used to sing as a child, and drive my Mother scatty

Christmas is coming and the goose is getting fat

Please put a penny in the old man's hat

If you haven't got a penny a halfpenny will do

And if you haven't got a ha'penny then God bless you.

Christmas was Christmas in those days

And now  they are selling as presents, Mobile Phones designed for the smallest of children.

I once had a mouse in my bed (true), it tickled. I had no problem with its company, however my wife didn't see this in quite the same light.

This wasn't how the stories of Mervin came about, I am still seriously concerned over that little rascal. Laugh

I don't think about Christmas until after Thanksgiving. As you know, we love American Football and in the USA they don't start the run
up to Christmas until after Thanksgiving, which for them is a big holiday. I think the shops in the UK start Christmas too early. We have had months of it already, and by Christmas you're fed up with it. And I think it's sick some of the things they make for small children today. My granddad used to make us wooden toys. They were great. None of our friends had the same toys as us because they were
made especially for us. How nice is that. I remember one year he made the boys a toy fort. All the pieces slotted together, it had a drawbridge and at the end of the day you could put it away in a big box. And he made me a dolls house. Well I say dolls house, it was a bungalow. It was brilliant. Those were the days.Laugh Christmas is simply too commercial today.
