We have had a few nice days here, a little bit cold but beautiful blue skies. Yesterday we went for our walk and I was very pleased to see frog spawn on the pond. Spring is definitely here!

I have to say I'm not in favour of nuclear power. I understand its benefits but I think it's just storing up problems for the future. Where do you put the waste and what do you do with the old power stations? I think there are better answers than nuclear power. The problem is they cost more in the short term and no one wants to look at the big picture. What are we doing to our planet, and what mess are we leaving for future generations?

Today is the Ides of March and escaping the news of today which is describing the worst catastrophe ever-
I am going back and thinking of the year 44BC. When Caesar was murdered.
His first wife Cornelia died when giving birth to their daughter.
He then married Pompeia who he later divorced.
So you see Caesar is not forgotten and neither will Japan-2011 be forgotten.
Things happen.

You're so right, Doreen. Things happen. But I have to say if there is a God then he or she could give Japan a break. On top of all that has happened in the last week, now the weather is making their lives even harder. Not to mention the hunt for survivors.

Well it was a full moon and a “super moon” last night. I found this to explain it :- On March 19th, a full Moon of rare size and beauty will rise in the east at sunset. It's a super “perigee moon” the biggest in almost 20 years. “The last full Moon so big and close to Earth occurred in March of 1993,” says Geoff Chester of the US Naval Observatory in Washington DC. “I'd say it's worth a look.”
I looked outside about 8pm and the moon was very bright and had a orangey colour. If you had the right camera you would have got a great photo.

Tomorrow my wife and I are off on our holidays. We leave home at 10:45 in the morning and fly out of Napier airport at midday. We catch a plane at Auckland International airport, Brisbane bound, at 3:30 PM. We will be away for seventeen nights and return to New Zealand on April 7th.
This time I am taking two cameras with me so I hope to return with some pictures and video of the trip. We have some special gardens and parks we intend to visit and with luck a couple of wildlife parks, I also wish to do some photographic work recording after dark scenes in the city.
I send you best wishes, stay well and keep safe. Doreen, look after your onion!!!
Aussie, here we come.

Well we have had the Spring Equinox (day and night are equal) and British Summer Time starts Sunday. We will lose an hour and we won't find it again until the last Sunday in October. But never mind, the days will get longer and from Sunday we will have an extra hour of daylight in the evening. Whoopee!

I love spring. We had the snowdrops and now we have the daffodils (Narcissus).
