As Michael and I will reach Christmas Day about thirteen hours ahead of those in the Northern hemisphere, I would like to wish everyone the season's greetings. A very enjoyable message board with few but very worthwhile members.
May the New Year find you all in good health and hopefully some warmer weather won't be too long in coming your way.

A Happy Christmas to you all, and on a more sombre note as I think back to one year after my arrival in NZ, on this day, The Tangiwai disaster, ('Tangiwai' means 'weeping waters'). Never underestimate the power of nature. A river filled with not only bodies but Christmas presents and coloured paper.

It's Christmas morning and very warm, in fact it promices to be a real hot one. No roast turkey for us, I have smoked a whole fillet of salmon, which will be devoured with a fresh salad from the garden.

You just wait until Doreen sobers up, we can then worry about the New Year. Our Doreen showed us the bottle of wine she has at home, I only hope the dog left her some to enjoy over the holiday.

Well I've had a great Christmas. My sister got here Boxing Day and we have been busy enjoying Christmas cheer. It's been lovely having her over for a few days. She when home yesterday evening. It's all quiet here now. We will have a quiet New Year.
We had some very sad news. Boxing Day evening, our nextdoor neighbour popped around. He asked if we heard the helicopter that had landed on the green during the afternoon. We had heard nothing – we were playing games. It was the emergency services helicopter. One of our neighbours had died. Valerie – Keith's wife (Petal and Rosie's owner). She felt a bit ill Christmas Day evening and could not get warm. By 3pm Boxing Day she was dead and the emergency services could not revive her. We are all shocked and very sad.

Sad Annmarie. It's odd that on the 3 forums I frequent, someone has died on each .

On a happier note, Happy New Year everyone. I was just watching the news and they had the New Year celebration from Auckland. The firework display was amazing. We have got 10 and a half hours to go and then we can let our fireworks off.
