I think that it is a shame that this forum goes to bed so early,

at about 6.30pm (my time)  as it is then when most “third -age's” have the time to sit and chat.

Perhaps they are at prayer Doreen!Smile

Think of me! When I'm bright eyed and bushy tailed, everybody has gone to bed!

You are so right Doreen. I wish I had your energy. But I find as I get tired my brain stops working. I'm getting up at 8am which is early for me and I have my dinner at 6.30pm. I sit down about 7.30pm and put my feet up. That's me finished for the day, I can't move. I have 2 cups of tea in the evening (which my husband makes) and I go to bed at 10pm.Laugh

“But I find as I get tired my brain stops working.”wrote Annmarie.

That happens to me and sometimes in the middle of the afternoon.

You and your Husband do more than your share of work.

You offer us this pleasant Forum where one never needs to feel lonely and there is always something to read.Smile

Coincidentally, today I got my bike down from hanging upside down in the garage, where it has been for a year! Pumped up the tyres and made sure the little computer on the handlebars was still working. Then I got sidetracked into milling a bit of antique totara timber I was given , into useable pieces. The original was probably about 100 years since it was part of a entrance to a woolshed, covered in lichen but not the slightest sign of rot. Totara is good like that , it was used as fence posts and strainers in the settler days, and the off cuts make great kindling or logs for fires.

There! A bit more useless knowledge!Smile

I see it is used by the Maori's for carving, Ciderman. Are you preparing it for carving or is it purely for burning? By the way, according to Wikipedia they have now begun planting it in the UK.

I don't think I'm up to carving it but I do sometimes make things out of it- like picture frames. Nice simple woodwork!

Did you see our giant tree- or the remains of it at our old house? That was a macrocarpa (or what the Americans call a Monterey Cypress) We cut firewood from it for 10 years as it lie there on the grass, at about 3 cord a year. It doesn't rot like pine so you can leave it.

Good heavens. I can see it now. I couldn't see it earlier when I looked. That is astonishing. I'm surprised it only took 10 years to use up as firewood!

You are lucky, you were there.

Me, I was banned before I ever wanted to go.

So this is my only forum, if I had two I would have to take my computer to bed with me.Frown
