Hi, my name is Anthony. I'm 61, single, living and working in London but looking to spend the winter, at least, somewhere warmer. I need to stay within easy reach of the UK so southern Spain looks favourite. It's possible to rent a very nice apartment or house starting at less than £300 a month for 2 bedrooms. Bigger places can be even better value. I'd like to find a flatmate(s) to reduce the costs and I reckon it would work out to no more than £200 per person per month plus food and personal expenses. I'm thinking of going in October for 6 months initially.
I should say that I'm very easy going, TIDY, and like to keep in shape so I'm not looking for messy couch potatoes !
It's very possible to have a cheap mini retirement away from the English winter and although not hot, the weather would be much more agreeable for walking or cycling and it could be a great opportunity to develop a new interest or rediscover an old one. Maybe the time to simply reflect and reassess your life.
If you're looking for an escape, even a temporary one, this may be the first step….frankly, if Carlsberg did flatmates I would be one.
