With grateful thanks to the late, and great, Armenian-American author William Saroyan for the title of this thread, I thought we'd see how much of the world we could join up between us by listing places we've visited. This has nothing to do with who has been to the most places. It's not a competition, just something to add interest.

So here goes with my list: England, Scotland, Wales, France, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Turkey, Gibraltar, St Helena, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Kenya, Rodrigues (one of the Mauritian islands), Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea.

It's not really worth me putting a list on but here I go: England, Wales, Jersey, Guernsey, France, Belgium, Turkey. It's really bad I've never been up as far as Manchester or even gone to Ireland.Smile

There is nowhere like home and now because I have less money to spend I can enjoy a week in my back-yard.

A week of living and cooking outside but sleeping in my own bed and having a bubbly bath in my own bathroom.

I cook in my Tajine which I bought a few years ago when driving over the Atlas hills in Morocco or I grill tasty finger foods.

Switzerland  borders with 5 other countries so I have crossed all those frontiers.

There was a time when I drove quite often to England in my Yellow Mini.

The steering wheel on the left-hand side which made overtaking difficult.

I was once parked for 3 nights in front of the Hilton hotel, Stratford,  in between  a Rolls-Royce and a Jaguar.

Mustn't forget Hammersmith— I had a boyfriend there. Embarassed

As far north as I could get. Hammerfest .

I haven't been on the Moon yet but I might start saving for a trip to Mars. … Well why not.? Cool

It is autumn holiday time again and 3 weeks school holiday.

Many people prefer taking their holidays at this time of year and visiting a warmer place

preparing themselves for winter.

I saw an article in the Daily Telegraph that it is going to be a bitter cold winter in the UK.

Do these Meteo people really know !!

I think our Queen of Hearts (Annmarie ) is holidaying somewhere.

Hurry back we miss you.Laugh

Should I suddenly go missing it's no cause for alarm: in three week's time my wife and I are off to Australia for seventeen days we love the Aussie east coast.

I won't cheat by writing all the countries I have visited, the Royal navy were extremely generous with their travel plans for those on their luxury cruises. Mind you I must add one small criticism, they were extremely limited in their colour schemes, everything was a dreadful, dreary grey.

Of all the countries I have visited then Australia sits on top spot by a very long way. The weather is brilliant, the food divine, the people are so friendly and there is so much to do. Aussies don't do history, they make it up as they go along. Smile

My husband was in the Royal Navy too, but he was very young and when they went on shore leave they did more drinking than sightseeing.Laugh

That is all part of the training. To get recruits into shape they issued a tot of rum each day, we were very dedicated. In some countries the spots we visited had to be kept hush hush, with no pictures, we certainly didn't want family to know we had frequented such arias.

All this and we got paid as well, is it any wonder I was classed as being 'able bodied'? Laugh

My sister is going to Australia at the end of the month for about 3 weeks. She is hoping to catch up with some of the people she met when she was there before and one of her best friends from school is now working in Australia so she would like to see her too. I think she is going to Melbourne and then Brisbane – not sure where else she might end up. She will be back for Christmas.Laugh

If your sister visits Brisbane, she may not want to come back. Smile

You're right, 'Me'. She has got to come home because she has just started a 2 year college course. She is training to teach beauty therapy and she has paid for it in advance!Laugh
