Ladies and Gentlemen, I have moved

From inside —out.

My comfy chair is out with its  new cover and with the same material I am making cushions and things

To celebrate I had Lunch in the sunshine. Hawaii Toast. It tasted like a   ***** menu.

Of course the weather forecast for next Tuesday is snow.

Come what may I shall still sit out… in my winter woollies.Laugh

I bravely drank my first strong black coffee outside this morning.

Now full of excuses, there is work inside to be done, my day begins.

Admin you were the early-bird this morning and I am feeling very happy because…yesterday

The first guests arrived in my Bee-Hotel. I saw two wiggling there way into their rooms.

Yesterday was beautiful and hot , today grey, clouds and chilly.  That is the way of life

Quick thoughts. what if some of the many guests who visit us here would

wiggle their way in here and chat with us..Embarassed

Hello Cider, yes Hazel comes in daily and reads what we have to say

She is a busy Lady, and she is a true friend,

You and me are the Black, me blacker than black sheep of that family but–

It is his loss not mine.

Brilliant. The bee hotel works. At that rate you will be fully booked for the summer. Is it self catering or bed and breakfast?Smile

When the rains came… They have come…

A day inside.. Who cares, it is free water, like the gentle dew from heaven.

I shall spend the day protesting and eating. and being daft.Laugh

Yoohoo Cider.

(and doreen)

I have been very busy stocking up the freezer with meals suitable for a diabetic just lately, having purchased a new food processor and mixer.  My old ones were over 35 years old and way past their use by date.  I had lost interest in cooking since my husband died and my daughters had left home but now I have to watch my diet I have developed a new love of cooking especially with the great recipes available for diabetics now.   I was most surprised to find out just what I could eat !  Laugh

The freezer is full of soups, main meals, desserts, sauces for pasta etc., and I have a tin full of biscuits with plenty of rolled oats in them to keep my blood sugar down …. it takes longer to digest the rolled oats and certain carbs so the blood sugar doesn't rise so quickly.  From a high of 20 mmols my blood sugar has now dropped until yesterday it was down to 4.6 mmols.

Lovely to see you Hazel!Smile Been a bit of disruption with forums lately.

We've fed ourselves from a vegetable point of view, up until about a week ago and we've actually had to BUY stuff! However we have stuffed the freezer with green beans and aubergines. After our time in Turkey and Cyprus last year we've developed a liking for their kind of cuisine. Jill is working her way through a cook book from each country!Smile

I'll get Ann-marie to post her recipe for Turkish lamb, Cider. Working for them for some years as we did, we too developed a love of their cuisine. Absolutely the best in my opinion.

Hazel, interesting how you are managing with your diet.

I think I should follow suit as I have put on 3 Kilos last winter and that is 21000 Calories.

Move and eat smaller portions— easier said than done.

Hi doreen, since the beginning of February I have lost 10 kgs but I still have another 10 kgs at least to go.  I have been weighing everything I eat and listing it in an online site called Calorie King.  I have also been limiting my food to under 1200 calories a day and exercising by either walking or using a treadmill.

The site isn't just for diabetics but for everyone who wants to lose weight or has to watch their health and lifestyle.  They have the fat, fibre, sodium, sugar, carbohydrate, protein levels of many kinds of food listed in their database and if you register with them (it is free) they can also create a diet for you.  You can record your weight, measurements, amount of exercise taken, fluid intake and blood sugar levels on the site, too.  It has been a tremendous help to me in helping me to lose weight and teaching me how to record and control my diabetes.

I have lost weight since I ceased running up and down vineyards on the sides of hills! When I was fit, young and foolish I weighed 95 kg. It's been dropping ever since! Now I'm 85Kg.

In theory Cider I guess you should have gained weight since you 'ceased running up and down vineyards'. But I would guess that like me, some of that loss is due to the loss of muscle mass, some to being more careful about your calorie intake as you've become less active?

I'm having to be careful right now. I'm very proud of my weight for my age, and despite recent difficulties, I'm a couple of weeks into kicking the smoking habit for good. But if I keep eating those creamy rice puddings in the evenings (made with Petal's milk) and snacking on chocolate biscuits during the day, I'm going to be looking like a pudding myselfFrown

I've bookmarked Hazel's site just in case.

Hazel, I see that I can read and find their recipes without being registered.

I will study that site.

Now that is what forums are for. helping each other.

It is still raining here.

Hi, Hazel. My mum is a diabetic. She is only on tablets at the moment. I wish she would take as much care as you are. From what you have said, if you're organized, it can be fun finding new recipes to keep you well and help keep your blood sugars down.Smile

My mum is still smoking even though she knows the potential consequences.Cry

Another rainy day and tomorrow.

The sun will shine again when it is ready.

Actually the sun is always shining somewhere

I wish I knew more about our Sun system

Is the moon the earth's moon or does it belong to the sun.

I only know that when it is full moon in Europe it also full moon in NZ.

That means one of us moving.

Moving is healthy and life is complicated.Wink
