I have been using the free version of Avast anti-virus for two years on both pc and lap top. Yesterday the lap top asked me to update the programme so I did.

Disaster, it crashed the system back to Scan Disc every time it rebooted. I checked the net and sure enough this particular version has been doing the same world-wide.

So I used my brain, started the lap top in “Safe” mode and booted off Avast. I have now installed the free AVG9 which seems to be fine.

Why do they mess about with programmes just for the sake of it and lose loyal users?Frown

I resisted AVG for a while thinking that a 'freebie' can't be as good as paid up stuff, but all my family were with AVG and eventually I swapped from McAfee ,(which I had no problem with but the fee) and I realised that the free was ok and was really a come on for their business version which does cost.
