As we reach the end of the Classics season in professional cycling prior to the upcoming Giro d’Italia (the first of the season’s Grand Tours) which starts in less than a fortnight, we are currently being treated to the picturesque delights of Switzerland via the Tour of Romandy. If you can get to see it on your TV, I can thoroughly recommend it for the scenery alone. Absolutely breathtaking!

I have never been to Switzerland, but after watching the first stage of the Tour of Romandy last night I would love to go there. It looks beautiful. I think it would be a lovely place for a walking holiday.

Every Tuesday night during the summer, at about 5pm, people set up road cones and signs saying “Cycling in progress” and people in lycra, heads down, bum up, go hurtling past our front gate. They're very enthusiastic. About an hour later they all come hurtling back the other way.

I don't do road bicycling because Living on a steep hill I can whizz down and walk up
I have though an inside bike which I use when my 18 steps are covered in snow.
This “Tour de Romandie is for us a small thing and it is in the French speaking district of Switzerland.
Not even mentioned on our news.
