My orchid is in flower again. It's taken a month or so for the first flower to come out and now I will have several months of enjoyment as the rest of the flowers open. Then it will go back to sleep for another year.OrchidLaugh

Doreen, have you decided on the plants you are going to put in your orchidrium?

My Orchidarium is an Inside winter garden.

It should have plants that can live together.

I have 9 very small  Tillandsia (airplants)  so I have mounted these on a twig and am testing them

Then I have 6 mini Phalenopsis. These are hybrids so this is too a case of trying.

I am visiting next week a specialist on Orchids. He is a 2 hour drive away.

So I shall listen to what he has to say and buy 1-2 plants from him.

I think one has to understand how Orchids grow in the nature to grow them here.

It is a challenge.

It is a great time to learn something new. I can see you have a lot of reading to do and it's too hot to do much. You can sit outside in the shade with your laptop and trawl the internet for articles about Orchids and the best plants for your Orchidarium so when winter comes you will be ready to go. What fun.Laugh

Annmarie I have done all the learning.

I wanted to know if the money I was investing in this project was worth while.

The glass case which is 60×40x50 and cost me Sfr.102

Then I bought for 1 mini orchid, a hand blown glass with a small drainage for 60Fr.

I had been trying the mini orchids  and preferred them to the tall Phalaenopsis.

I read about how to grow these flowers in Google.

There were many articles all telling another tale

So I now I am ready to try myself.

It is at the moment not Orchid time, but the next winter will come and then…

I will see if I can make a photo next week but I am not sure about filming through glass.

It sounds a lot of money Doreen but I'm sure you will get a lot of enjoyment out of it. And when you have it up and running the cost will be quite low. I can't wait to see some photos. Yes taking a photo through glass can be difficult. Let's hope it goes well.Laugh

I have 9 flowers out on my orchid now and many more to come. It looks great and I've got many more months to enjoy it. I wonder if you have been able to take a photo of your Orchidarium yet, Doreen? I'm so looking forward to seeing your work of art.Laugh
