Well the corn has gone and we have our view back. I'm not saying it's the best view in the world but it is nice to have open fields to look at. I have to say with the corn in the field since June it was starting to get a bit claustrophobic in the garden. I stood and watched them cutting down the corn and the machine just seemed to chop all the corn, storks and all in to little pieces. Animal feed perhaps? The farmers around here are very busy trying to do as much before the weather really turns, which it is meant to do later in the week.

Sounds like they were making maize silage Annmarie. Quite a bit of that produced here too as a winter supplementary feed source.

Ann-marie, have you ever thought of keeping chooks? You seem to have the ideal setup on hand and nothing, but nothing tastes better than a fresh egg.

I would love to get some chickens and I was going to get an Eglu from omlet.co.uk to keep them in. They are more portable than normal chicken houses and the foxs can't get in. They have different Eglu's for different animals. At the moment I get my eggs from Keith the smallholder in the village, but having some chickens of my own is top of my list of priorities as and when we find a permanent home.
