It's May Bank Holiday weekend here in the UK as evidenced by a decline in the weather, a drop in the temperature, a decrease in rail services just when they're needed most, and an increase in road traffic as people head not for the coast or the countryside but for the DIY stores and garden centres.Frown

We don't have bank holidays. They are on one long holiday! The next long weekend is Queens Birthday in June.

We have:

New Years Day

Day after NYD

Waitangi Day 6th Feb

Good Friday

Easter Monday

ANZAC Day  25th April.

Queens Birthday 1st Monday in June.

Labour Day 4th Monday in October

Christmas Day

Boxing Day.

In addition each province has an anniversary day , in our case  1st Nov tied in with the Hawkes Bay A & P Show. Where they do this kind of stuff and have agricultural displays like sheep, cattle , dog trials, farm machinery displays etc

This is kind of fun. Two guys with 10 ton diggers have to tip a pail of water into another pail then transport it about 50 metres and pour it into another bucket. It's bloodyclever!

It looks fun. We would not be allowed to do it here because of health and safety.

Our bank holidays are:

 New Year's Day  January 1
 Good Friday  April 2
 Easter Monday  April 5
Early May Bank Holiday   May 3
 Spring Bank Holiday  May 31
 Summer Bank Holiday  August 30
 Christmas Day Holiday  December 27
 Boxing Day Holiday  December 28

It won't be long and we will lose Easter and Christmas. These events are already being played down in the UK. When I was at school you made Easter bonnets and such things. They don't do that any more.Cry
