I'm sure everyone will have read about the two boys who have received a so called “indefinite” sentence for their horrific torture of two younger boys in Yorkshire. Some of the details will never be revealed because they were so horrific.

Why then have I heard nothing but concern for the perpetrators since their sentence was annouced?

What will they do in detention? What about their education? One announcer corrected himself when he used the phrase “behind bars” by saying: “I mustn't say bars”.

Why the hell not? These under age animals dropped a kitchen sink on their victims. If they were dogs they would have been shot, it is a miracle the victims survived and they should be behind bars to make them hurt before the barmy British justice system even thinks about rehabilitation.

At the moment they will be feeling like little media celebrities with the over the top coverage given to them. No doubt they will have a busy weekend ahead. Three meals a day, a computer in their rooms, TV, all the trimmings that the do gooders seem to think these deprived little lads deserve.

There are just some occasions when the horror of the crime should justify throwing the key away, or more. This is surely one.

Watch out for the copycats, they'll be along soon.

To carry out the actions that these children have, indicates to me one of two things. Either both children are psychopaths, which would seem a very unlikely coincidence, or parental control and early education  was entirely lacking. If the former, they have some sympathy as they have a mental disorder which is really no different, but more destructive than a physical disorder, but , like an infectious disease, the public greater good should come first in separating them from the rest of us if necessary, for a long period.

A very sorry story.

Civilisation is a veneer, easily soluble in alcohol. http://cidermannz.blogspot.com/

A very wise and considered reply Michael.

It does seem that they have had a horrific childhood and that our caring society has done nothing about it.  Goodness knows what our Social Services Department does, because it's certain that they are incapable of doing anything for children.

The Jesuits say “give me a child until he is 7 and I will give you the man”.  Their early childhood would lead us to believe that they should never be released.  They are far too damaged to ever become 'normal' and I fear for our future society when young men like they will become are allowed back among us.  Sadly, this type of childhood abuse is becoming more and more common.  We have created a society where children are seen (by many) as merely a means to Benefits & Housing:  the welfare of these children is of no concern to anyone.  What a sick country we have become.

I read in the Daily Telegraph the stories about the family life of these two children.

It was horrible, they never had a chance.

They were taking drugs and alcohol when other children at that age were drinking their cocoa.

Their parents were incapable of caring for them and I wondered why the parents were in such a state.

They will need a lot of therapy and will themselves have to realize how wrong their life has been and there are better ways to live.

Is this possible— yes I think so.
