I do wonder who looks after Petal and Rosie.
Keith, a local smallholder, looks after Petal. We have lived in our village for a number of years. Petal is normally kept on our village green on her own. I felt sorry for her so when we go for a walk we would go and say hi to her and take her a treat or two. As you know, cows are social animals and live in herds. I asked Keith if we could feed her and what we were allowed to feed her. It turned out her favourites are apples. Now when she sees or hears us coming she comes running towards us and skids to a halt right in front of us. Keith said she looks forward to seeing us more than him and he thinks she would follow us anywere. So now he says she is our cow. We are going to see Petal and Rosie in a while when we go for our Sunday morning walk. At the moment she's not on the green, but in a barn with Rosie the calf because she is still so young. I'm going to take a photo so you can see how Rosie has grown.

Well we have just got back from our walk. I say just. I've been back long enough to have made some dough and it's rising in the airing cupboard. Fresh bread for lunch toda. 30 mins and it will be ready to go in the oven
I've taken some photos of Petal and Rosie today. Rosie is growing quickly.

Keith wants us to take Rosie for walks to get her used to being on a lead believe it or not. It will make it easier to bring her from the green where she will live most of the year, into the yard and barn where she will during the winter months.

Here's Petal looking happy and contented after her Apples. She was so funny today. When we got there she had her head in the straw trough. She heard us coming, lifted her head out of the trough and it looked like she was wearing a straw hat. I got my camera out of my pocket but it was to late, she shook her head and the straw fell off.

A lovely looking family group. (Where is dad?) Rosie will be so pleased that Petal has such magnificent bosoms!

Yes, Petal is currently producing so much milk we have been invited to partake of those bosoms whenever we like this week

You know what it is with youngsters today. She went out on the town with the girls, had too much to drink and Rosie was the result.

We are trying to find the father. We know his name is Angus and he is from Aberdeen.

Here is the latest photo of Rosie. She is growing quickly. She is about half the size of her mother, Petal. When I compare Rosie against Edwin, Petal's first calf, she is much more shy. Edwin at this age would come over with little encouragement, get a rub and take some apples from me, but Rosie keeps hiding behind her mum.
