I'm sure all of us here are old enough to remember when Marks & Spencer stood for quality. Not any more. Surely I can't be alone in finding holes in socks after just a few washes, and underpants that come apart at the seams after just a few months?
Any former M&S devotees with the same problem?

Look at the labels Tom !!!! most of their wares are made in Morocco……smacks of Primark which I can't stand…shoddy, aimed mainly at the young,in fact a throw away world

You're certainly right about the 'throw away world', Maureen. In fact I've decided that in the main, there's no longer any benefit in paying a premium for quality. None whatsoever. We may as well buy the cheapest goods and accept that they have a limited lifespan. Such is the country we live in I'm afraid.
For example I'm currently buying working t-shirts and jeans from Sainsbury's. At £3 for a t-shirt and £6 for jeans, you can't go wrong. I buy a number at the same time, wear them, and when they start to unravel, chuck them away and unwrap another. Simples

I have to say that I use charity shops more and more, often better quality than the real thing.

Without a doubt. While even their prices have risen in recent years, they still represent the best shopping value on the high street!
