Insomnia
A Third Age Health & Wellness feature
by our Health Editor
As we age, we take longer to fall asleep and are woken more easily than when we are younger. Some 50% of older people are believed to have difficulty in sleeping or suffer from Insomnia.
More common in women than men, the most common symptoms of Insomnia are difficulty in getting to sleep or remaining asleep for long periods, waking during the night for no apparent reason, and waking in the morning without feeling refreshed.
While most people suffer from bouts of Insomnia at some point in their lives, if you suffer from Insomnia on a regular basis, you should seek medical advice.
