by our Health Editor

Periodic Limb Movement Disorder (also known as PLMD or Nocturnal Myoclonus) is a physical and psychological condition in which sufferers kick their legs (or move their arms) involuntarily and uncontrollably at regular intervals during sleep.

Some 40% of older people are said to suffer from Periodic Limb Movement Disorder which may affect a sufferer’s ability to get to sleep or remain asleep.

Medical advice should be sought if this condition persists or becomes a problem.
