Swim for Free

Swim for Free

Did you know that more than 20 million people can swim for free in England as of 1 April this year?

As part of the Government’s free swimming programme, almost 300 local councils are providing swimming free of charge for people 60 and over.

Secretary of State for Work and Pensions James Purnell said: “Swimming is an excellent way to keep fit and healthy in later life and that’s why the DWP is contributing £22m towards the Government’s free swimming initiative.

“I know many over 60s enjoy making a splash in their local pool, and from today I hope that millions more will be able to take the plunge.”
