We note that a Merseyside mother has won the right to compensation for her 3-year-old son after he was hit 11 times by another 3-year-old in the back of a car.
Okay, so the weapon was a car jack, supposedly. We say supposedly because we personally doubt a 3-year-old capable of even lifting a car jack, let alone wielding it at the head of another toddler 11 times. But that aside, what on earth happened to common sense?
Are we really going to label a 3-year-old toddler a violent criminal just because he fought with another toddler? And are we seriously going to give every carpet-bagging mother a payout every time her child gets hurt in a simple play fight?
That being the case, we’re guessing that every Third Ager reading this must be both guilty of similar crimes when they themselves were growing up and due similar compensation for hurt occasioned to their own children when they were small.
Is there a Third Age person reading this who did not get hurt as a toddler? Is there an individual amongst us who can claim that they did not lash out at another as a child?
Whatever Happened to Common Sense in this country of ours?
